Texas A&M University's Telecommunications and Informatics Task Force was established in conjunction with the University's strategic plan, Vision 2020, which identifies the needed steps for the University to be recognized as a top 10 university by the year 2020.

The Task Force was set up by the Executive Vice President and Provost to further the University's capabilities to compete with other universities on the technological front of the future.
